BRILLIANT BODIES SCHOOLS WORKSHOPS
NEW! During the Dundee Science festival Dundee Science Centre are hosting Billiant Bodies workshops. Brilliant Bodies is an interactive and fun exploration of what happens to our bodies when we exercise. Using the Wellcome Trust ‘In the Zone’ kits pupils can explore the effects of exercise on their own heart and lungs, as well as think about what makes elite sportspeople so good at their chosen sport. The workshops are aimed at P5-P7 , there will be three 1 hour sessions per day for upto 25 pupils per session. As part of the workshop you can visit the Human Race exhibition at the Lamb Gallery and ISE at the University of Dundee. There will also be a space available at Dundee Science Centre for pupils to eat a packed lunch. Please let them know at the time of booking if your class will be taking a packed lunch. The workshops are FREE but must be booked in advance through the Dundee Science Centre. Booking details below. SUBSIDESED OR FULL TRANSPORT COSTS CAN BE ARRANGED ON REQUEST. Live Performance – ‘glitching’
FREE – ‘glitching’ is a new digital dance performance project led by artist Beverley Hood. The performance is inspired by the glitches and malfunctions of characters in sports and action computer games. After the performance the audience will be invited to step into the digital shoes of the dancers and follow the movements of the on-screen dance troupe. The project is funded by an Artist Commission from the Scotland and Medicine Partnership for the Human Race exhibition. Additional funding has been provided by Creative Scotland and Edinburgh College of Art. Tickets are limited so it is advisable to book in advance through the WHALE Arts Agency
Physicality of Dance – FREE talk
Human Talks: The Physicality of Dance Join Scottish Ballet to discuss the physicality of dance within the context of the life of a professional ballet dancer. Find out about their training, technique, diet, and the prevention and treatment of injuries through physiotherapy, massage, and Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis exercise systems. This event is part of the Human Talks; a series of relaxed informal talks that will explore some of the fascinating themes that surround the culture of sport. The talks are FREE so why not come along and join us for an interesting evening of chat with plenty of opportunity for questions.
WIGGLE, WAGGLE AND WALK – WORKSHOP
FREE – Animals move in an amazing variety of ways. We will take the language of animal movement and translate it into a piece of art using fun words games and an exciting variety of art materials. Let your imagination go wild and we may even come up with a new animal or two. The workshop will explore the differences in movement between humans and animals and explore evolution and adaptation.
