About Human Race

Human Race: inside the history of sports medicine

was a Scotland wide, touring exhibition and associated programme of events that used Scottish collections and newly commissioned artworks to explore the history, development and ethics of sport and exercise medicine. The exhibition was curated by Malcolm MacCallum with Prof. Andrew Patrizio, curator of the contemporary art.

People of all ages and from all walks of live were invited to get involved. We wanted people to consider, question and debate the key issues in sport and exercise medicine, and perhaps discover some of the hidden and often surprising impacts of it on the culture of sport and society.

Human Race was part of The Scottish Project. The Scottish Project has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK and by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
